Japan Rugby Top League season started in February. It is the "last" Top league because new domestic league will start in 2022. Though it was scheduled to start in January at first, the officials were obliged to postpone it until the 20th of February due to COVID-19. Anyway, matches are played with spectators though they're much fewer than usual.
As expected, some strong teams as Suntory Sungoliath, Kōbe Steelers, Yamaha Jubilo, Toyota Motors Verblitz and Panasonic Wild Knights won successively. Kubota Spears and NTT Docomo Red Hurricanes also unbeaten though Toshiba Brave Lupus the matches in Round 1 and 2.
Beauden Barrett scores a try for Suntory in the match against Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Dynaboars.
Ayumu Gorōmaru, former Japanese international who plays for Yamaha Jubilo scored one try and contributed to the victory last weekend. He announced that it would be his last season. And Kenki Fukuoka also announced his retirement because he would start studying medicine at Juntendō University from next April.
