ベイカー寮221B／Baker House 221B

ある日、ガルシアとヘンダーソンが221Bに駆け込んで来て、ジェイベズ・ウィルソンの居場所を尋ねた。ホームズは、彼をかくまっていたため知らないと答える。2人が去った後、ウィルソンは、彼らが探している袋を取り出した。その中には、ウィスロンがスティーブと名付けた青いシロクマのぬいぐるみが入っており、腕にはペンギンがくっついていた。その数日前、空から降って来たこの袋を拾ったとウィルソンは言う、ホームズは、女性が作ったものであるが、他の誰かの手が入っているのを発見し、掲示板にこのことで張り紙をするように提案する。

ハドソン夫人はホームズに2つぬいぐるみを作ってくれた－1つはフォークが刺さった肉団子の形、もう1つはウサギのぬいぐるみだった。そしてアブドラが221Bに現れ、ホームズに「アクメット君」を返してくれと言った。アブドラはぬいぐるみを、毎晩アーチャー寮の屋根の上で行うヨガの時に、クッションとして使っていて、ガルシアとヘンダーソンが追って来たため、ぬいぐるみを屋根から投げたのである。ホームズは、アブドラが必要なのはアクメット君ではなく、自分の尻の形に合うものだとさとり、その場を取り繕って、肉団子とフォークのぬいぐるみを渡す。ホームズはアブドラに、アクメット君をどこで手に入れたか尋ね、アブドラはチャリティバザーで買ったと答える。

ラングデール・パイクはホームズに、ぬいぐるみは先月のバザーでノートン先生が出品したことを教え、報酬としてウサギのぬいぐるみを受け取る。ノートン先生は、2人にぬいぐるみを見せられて「テンプルちゃんだ」と口にする。それはアーチャー寮の生徒で、221Bの前にいた女番長のイザドラ・クラインから没収したものだった。先生から注意されてぬいぐるみの入った袋を投げつけ、逃げて行ったのである。先生は、ぬいぐるみは長い尻尾があったが、それを切ったことも話した。ワトソンはホームズに、自分もイザドラを知っていると言う。以前風に飛ばされた帽子を拾ってあげたことがあったのだった。

2人はイザドラの個室を訪れ、ぬいぐるみを返すが、ホームズは、このぬいぐるみを持っていたせいで怖い思いをしたウィルソンとアブドラに謝るように求める。イザドラはそれを強く拒否する。するとホームズは、ぬいぐるみについている袋から紙を取りだし、これを読み上げると言った。何が何だかわからないワトソンに、これはシロクマとペンギンではなく、カンガルーと赤ちゃんだと言い、オーストラリアからの転校生のワトソンへのプレゼントであること、紙はラブレターであることを話す。イザドラはホームズを制止しようとするが、泣き出してしまう。ワトソンは、調子に乗って彼女をからかうホームズにいい加減にしろと一喝し、イザドラに謝る。

その後、ハドソン夫人はウィルソンにトマトのぬいぐるみを作ってくれる。ハドソン夫人、ワトソン、そしてウィルソンは和気藹々としているが、ホームズは一人憮然としていた。



One day Garcia and Henderson rush into 221B and ask Holmes and Watson where Jabez Wilson is. Holmes tells them that he doesn't know for he harbours him there. After they leave, Wilson takes out a bag that both Garcia and Henderson search. There is a stuffed blue polar bear with a penguin on its arm called it Steve by Wilson. Wilson says that he gets the bag dropped from the sky a few days ago. Holmes finds it is made by a woman but altered by somebody and proposes placarding on it to bulletin board to him.

Mrs. Hudson makes two stuffed toys for Holmes - the one shaped like meatball with fork while another is a stuffed hare. Then Abdullah appears in 221B and asks Holmes to take back his "Achmet". He uses the bear as cushion while he does yoga on the roof of Archer House every night and threw it from the roof for Garcia and Henderson chased him. Holmes realises that what Abdullah needs is not "Achmet" but the one that fits to his backside so he patches things up for the moment and hands him the stuffed meatball with fork. Holmes asks him where he gets the bear and he answers that he bought it at a charity bazaar.

Langdale Pike informs Holmes that Godfrey Norton sold it at a bazzar last month and receives a stuffed hare as fee. Norton saiys "It's Temple" when he is shown the bear by Holmes and Watson. It was taken away by him from Isadora Klein, pupil of Archer House who leads a group of juvenile delinquents in front of 221B. She threw the bag contains a bear to him when she was warned and escaped. Norton also says that it had a lonｇ tail but he cut it. Watson tells Holmes that he knows Isadora for he once has picked up her hat flown by wind.

They visits Isadora's private room to return it to her but Holmes requires her to apoligise Wilson and Abdullah who feel threatened of possessing it. Isadora refuses it strongly. Then Holmes picks up a piece of paper from a pouch of the bear and tells her that he will read it aloud. He tells Watson who cannot understand the situation that the stuffed toy is not a polar bear with penguin but a kangaroo with its joey. It's a gift to Watson who transfers from Australia and the paper is a love letter to him. Isadora tries to stop Holmes but she falls to crying. Watson thunders Holmes who gets cocky and teases her to cut it out and apologises Isadora.

After that, Mrs. Hudson makes a new staffed toy with the shape of tomato for Wilson. Though she, Watson and Wilson are harmonious, only Holmes looks sullen.
