On the 16th of August in 1561, UESUGI Masatora, who changed his name from NAGAO Kagetora takes up arms. In Kōfu, some of the vassals of TAKEDA Shingen advise him to prepare for the battle but he takes a wait-and-see situation because haste makes waste. And his son Yoshinobu reminds Kansuke to protect Kaizu Castle then he answers him that Masatora never attcks the castle. Besides taking the castle cannot lure Shingen toward  him and it's the last way Masatora will adopt.


Masatora's vassals also say that they can take Kaizu Castle but Masatora emphasises that he does not like to torture Harunobu and his army. He plans to march from Hachimanpara to Mt. Saijo via Chikuma River. Naoe Sanetsuna feels unsafe with it but USAMI Sadamitsu says that Shingen will not attack them on the march but in direct opposition. Their march is seen by KŌSAKA (KASUGA) Toratsuna who stays in Kaizu Castle.

 
Shingen who is informed that Masatora was based in Mt. Saijo. He orders Toratsuna to take up arms. Yoshinobu who participates in the battle remembers that his moriyaku OBU Toramasa taught him what is Fudō Myo-ō (Acalanatha) in his childhood. Sanjō Fujin worries about his son and enters the room of Fudo Myo-ō and sits by her husband. Shingen tells her that he has given her anxiety until now. Then she asks him to win the battle if he thinks so. 25 years has passed since their marriage.


Kansuke trains his skill of spearmanship in preparation for the battle. At that moment, he is called "Father", not "Darling" by Ritsu for the first time. She declares that she will marry Toratsuna and take the charge during his absence. And then, Kansuke and his followers are sent off by the women including Ritsu and O-Kuma. On the 18th of August, Kansuke visits the tomb of Yu-u hime and tells his dead mistress that Katsuyori will participate in his first battle. Then light shines and the illusion of Yu-u hime appears. She tells him in a sad voice,
"Kansuke, you should not do that."
After that Katsuyori visits his mother's tomb accompanied by AKIYAMA Nobutomo but Kansuke proposes to him that he should enter Takashima Castle in Suwa for logistics support. Though Katsuyori is dissatisfied with it, Kansuke tells him that Shingen ordered so.


At the headquarter of Shingen in Ueda, Shinano, he appreciates the method Kansuke took. After he goes out of the room, Shingen asks KOMAI Masatake whether he is frightened or not and Masatake says that he intends to devote himself to Harunobu. Shingen admires Masatake who has served him for long years and tells him that she should live long. After that the troops of the rulers in Shinano join the Takeda Army. On the 24th of August, the army is based on Amenomiya to cut off the retreat of the Uesugi Army. Both Shingen and Masatora think that haste makes waste. The Uesugi Army still stay in the headquarters of Mt. Saijo but some soldiers steal food to supply their provisions.


On the 29th of August, Shingen and his army enter Kaizu Castle. KAKIZAKI Kageie proposes attacking the castle but is persuaded that it means playing into the enemy's hands. At Kaizu Castle, Shingen orders Kansuke and BABA Nobuharu to form a scheme though they oftern disagree in opinion. At that time, AIKI Ichibei informs them HARA Toratane, who became missing after the attack on Warigatake Castle is alive. Kansuke visits him in a farmhouse and in the entrance he finds a helmet of Toratane. Then he sees him wounded and lies down in the house. He is looked after by a mysterious old woman called O-Fuku. She asks him for money whenever Kansuke asks her something. At last he asks her when Kawanakajima will be covered with a thick for. O-Fuku who sees the clouds and says it's tomorrow.
