「シャーロック学園」のツイートによれば、ネットショップがオープンしたそうで、Tシャツやマグなどのグッズが販売されています。でも、現時点ではワトソンのアイテムが殆どないのが残念。

According to a tweet of "Sherlock Gakuen", goods of the programme as T-shirt or mug are sold on the network. However it's regrettable that there are almost never items of Watson at present.

さて、いよいよ松下村塾が軌道に乗り始めて、高杉晋作をはじめ、多くの門弟が集まるようになりました。授業料なしの昼食付で、しかもあちこちから入門者がやってくるわけですから、前にも増して杉家の家計が火の車状態になるわけですから、文を始め家族は大変だったことでしょう。尤も、この塾の存在が、後の日本史に大きく影響して行くわけですが。

安政の大獄後、つまり松蔭が処刑された後ですが、ある薩摩藩士が、長州は書生に仕切られていると言ったことがありましたが、正にこの松下村塾OBたちが、その中心的存在だったわけですね。しかし、やっと高良健吾さんの高杉晋作に慣れて来ました。どうしても『龍馬傳』の影響で、伊勢谷さんが高杉晋作のイメージが抜けなかったのですが。

ところで大相撲春場所、初日から鶴竜休場ですか…がっかり。何となく、昔のお相撲さん的なところが好きではあるのですが。

ジェファーソン・ホープは手先が器用なアーチャー寮の生徒です。彼は、ディーラー寮の生徒で、友人のジョセフ・スタンガスンといつも賭け事をしているイノーク・ドレッバーに食事を配膳していました。「最初の冒険」では、ホープは2人のドレッバーと友人のジョゼフ・スタンガスンにつき合わされ、負けたかたに時計を取られます。さらに、賭け事がばれると2人はホープに罪をなすりつけ、退学させられてしまいますが、その前に2人に賭けを挑み、父親の形見である時計を取り戻します。退学の前に、ワトソンは新しい自分になれとホープを励まします。

そして「ダグラスさんのお屋敷の冒険」で、ホームズとワトソンは、美術品運送の仕事をしながら彫刻の勉強をしているホープに、そのお屋敷でであります。ホープは自信にあふれ、まるで別人のようです。ホームズは、この学校外で起こった事件を経験して自分の未熟さをさとり、独り立ちしているホープに強く感銘を受けます。



Jefferson Hope is an Archer House pupil who is nimble-fingered and serves meals to Enoch Drebber, pupil of Dealer House and spends his time on gambling with his friend Joseph Stangerson. In "The First Adventure", he is forced to join them and taken away his watch as a pledge of loss. Moreover, they lay a blame on him when their gamble is found out and he is obliged to leave school. Then he challenges them to a bet and takes back his watch, keepsake of his father. Before leaving, Watson encourages him to make a fresh start.

And in "The Adventure of the Residence of Mr. Douglas", Holmes and Watson meet him who studies to become a sculptor while working at an artworks transportation company. Hope is confident in himself and quite a different boy now. Holmes who realises his immatureness by experiencing a case out of school and is strongly impressed by Hope who stands on his own feet.

ラングデール・パイクはベイカー寮の生徒で、ビートン校内のすべてに通じているため、ホームズの情報屋として活躍しています。原作ではこの人物は『三破風館』のみの登場ですが、このシリーズでは複数のエピソードに登場しています。時々怪しげな写真や薬を売っており、お金、特に自分への手数料に関してはうるさいです。

Langdale Pike is a Baker House pupil and acts an informant to Holmes for he is well acquainted with everything in Beeton School. In the canon, the character appears in "The Three Gables"only but he appears in some episodes in thie series. He sometimes sells dubious photos or medicine and is tight with money especially a fee paid for him.

221Bにはホームズのピロピロ笛（吹き戻し）が6本、試験管立てに立ててあります。彼は、原作のホームズがパイプをくゆらすような感じで、このピロピロ笛をしなしば吹いています。しかしこれを吹くのはリラックスするためではなく、精神を集中させるため、特に事件解決のためです。気持ちが高ぶった時は、ホームズは赤い色のを吹くようです。



In 221B, Holmes has six party horns in test tube stand. He often blows one of them just like Holmes in the canon somokes a pipe. But his party horn is not used for relaxing but concentrating on something, especially solving affairs. It seems that he blows the red one when he gets excited.

ベッポはベイカー寮の生徒で、「最初の冒険」では石膏像を立て続けに壊していました。しかし「失礼な似顔絵の冒険」では、ミルヴァートン先生の似顔絵を取り戻してほしいとホームズに依頼します。ベッポは、卒業までに学校中の先生の似顔絵を描くのが目標なのです。

彼は実際絵がうまく、描く人物の特徴をうまくとらえていますが、ホームズとワトソンの似顔絵は誇張されすぎですね。


Beppo is a pupil of Baker House and breaks plaster works of hippo in succession in "The First Adventure". However he requests Holmes to take back a portrait of Charles Augustus Milverton in "The Adventure of aTeacher's Portrait". He aims to draw the portraits of all teachers in Beeton School until his graduation.

He is good at drawing indeed and captures the character of those whom he draws well but the portraits of Holmes and Watson are overdone.

ヘレン・ストーナーは、ロイロット先生について化学教師になるための指導を受けている教育実習生で、淡いピンクの実験着を着ています。「まだらの紐の冒険」では、ストーナー先生は221Bを訪れ、何かに怯えながら、ホームズに化学実験室の近くで見た、奇妙な声を出す怪しい人影の正体を暴いてほしいと頼みます。その晩、先生とホームズ、ワトソンは、それがロイロット先生であることがわかります。

最初のシリーズでは登場回数が少なかったので、次のシリーズではもっと出て来てほしい人物です。

Helen Stoner is a trainee teacher who wears a pale pink coat and is trained to be a teacher of chemistry by Grimesby Roylott. In "The Adventure of the Speckled code", she visits 221B and timidly requests Holmes to reveal a suspicious figure with strange voice she saw near chemistry laboratory. That night they find it is Grimesby Roylott.

As she does not appear often in the first series, I hope she will appear more in the new episodes. 

ゴドフリー・ノートンは美術の先生で、アドラー先生の恋人です。美男子で服装もきちんとしていますが、生徒から没収したクマのぬいぐるみを、ちゃっかりアドラー先生のバースデープレゼントにしたりします。しかしそれを突き返されたため、学校のバザーにそれを出してしまいます。最終回で、ホームズは学校を去る前にアドラ―先生の幻を見ますが、実際は彼女もノートン先生もそこにはいませんでした。つまり2人は結婚して、新婚旅行に出かけたということなのでしょうか？

Godfrey Norton is an art teacher and loves school nurse Irene Adler. He is a good-looking man and dresses properly but shrewed to give Irene a stuffed bear that he confiscated from a pupil on her birthday. However she refuses accepting it, he sells it at a charity bazar in the school. In the final episode, Holmes sees an ilusion of Irene before leaving school but she and her lover are not there in reality. Does it mean that they marry and go on a honeymoon?

『失礼な似顔絵の冒険』で、ホームズはビートン校一の鬼教師といわれる、チャールズ・オーガスタス・ミルヴァートン先生の似顔絵を取り戻すように依頼されます。ホームズとワトソンは、先生の留守を狙って部屋に忍び込みますが、そこでアガサ・ライトと出会います。アガサは引っ込み思案で繊細なため、先生から個人授業を受けていたのでした。アガサは、先生はそんなに怖い人じゃないと2人に言います。そこへ先生が戻ってきて、ホームズは似顔絵を返してくれるように頼みますが、先生はそれを拒否します。その後、この先生の意外な一面を2人は知ることになるのですが、詳しくはまた後ほど書くことにしましょう。最終回『最後の冒険』でも、先生は学校を去る前のホームズにアドバイスをしてくれます。

In the episode "The Adventure of A teacher's Portrait", Holmes is asked to take back a portrait that describes Charles Augustus Milverton, a history teacher who is regarded as most severe teacher in Beeton School. Holmes and Watson steal into his room when he is absent and finds Agatha Wright, who takes personal tuition by him because of her shyness and sensitiveness. She tells them that he is not so severe. Then Milverton returns and Holmes asks him to take back the portrait but he refuses. After that, he shows an unexpected side to them but I will write it in details later. Also in the final episode "The Last Adventure", he gives an advice to Holmesbefore he leaves school. 

『花燃ゆ』、いよいよ松下村塾始動です。しかしこの塾は主に貧しい層の子弟を対象としていて、授業料を受け取らないため、杉家の家系が逼迫してしまうわけです。そんな中でやりくりをする文ですが、弟で耳が不自由な敏三郎が、高杉晋作の奔放さに触れ、その金を持ち出して遊郭に行ってしまったりで、文もなかなか気の休まる時がなさそうです。しかし、いつまでも子供だと思っていた敏三郎が、いつの間にかそんな年齢になっていたわけですね。しかしこのドラマでは、高杉晋作がやけにプレイボーイ的に描かれているような気もするのですが、実際はどうだったのでしょう。この後、久坂玄瑞の方が詩がうまいと松陰にいわれて、一念発起するのかもしれませんが。しかし、第8回で杉家にやってくる久坂玄瑞は、かなり怖かったですね。

それから伊藤利輔や吉田稔麿がこの回で登場です。伊藤利輔は後の初代総理大臣伊藤博文ですが、一方の吉田稔麿は後に池田屋事件で生涯を閉じます。多くの門人がこの塾を巣立って行って、それぞれがそれぞれの道を歩んだわけですが、無論この時点では、それを知る由もありません。

ちなみに文役の井上真央さんは、『白ゆき姫殺人事件』日本アカデミー賞の優秀主演女優賞受賞でしたが、最優秀作品賞受賞の『永遠の0』でも、岡田准一さんと夫婦役で出演していました。つまり、昨年と今年の大河ドラマの主人公が、あの作品で共演していたわけです。しかし岡田さんも『永遠の0』と『軍師官兵衛』でブレイクし、単にジャニーズのタレントではなく、一人前の俳優として成長しています。『図書館戦争』パート2とか、『エヴェレスト神々の山嶺（いただき）』といった待機作も楽しみです。
